“Titmouse”
Colored Pencil Painting
(reference photo)
“Watercolour World,” Anna Mason
My Inspiration:
One of my favorite pastimes, along with a good cup of coffee, is watching for and  listening to the beautiful songs birds that visit our garden.

“Indian Blanket Flower”
Gaillardia pulchella
Colored Pencil Painting
My Inspiration:
Each year, I feel Spring can’t
arrive soon enough.   Waiting with much anticipation for the cheerful Texas wildflowers that will display their beauty along our highways.

“A Few of My Favorite Things”
Colored Pencil Painting
My Inspiration:
As a nature scavenger looking for objects anytime I’m outside,  I spotted these, all except the nest and eggs ( artifical decorations), on our country property and county road.   I thought grouped together these objects would make an interesting painting.

“A Slice of Summer”
Colored Pencil Painting
My Inspiration:
I created this still-life scene to use  as a compostional reference in making this painting. To me these objects represent Summertime in Texas.  Plus, Sunflowers along with butterflies are some of my favorite objects to include in my art.

“Red Door in La Villita”
Acrylic paint & Colored pencil
30″x30″ canvas
My Inspiration:
While on a trip to the River Walk in San Antonio, Tx, I spotted this vibrant red door of a restaurant located in La Villita.  I just loved the plants in the beautiful clay pots.  I added two hidden features:  a lizard around one of the pots and on the climbing  Bougainvillea a butterfly.

“Waterlilies”
Acrylic palette painting
24″x36″ canvas
My Inspiration:
I’ve always admired Monet’s impressionistic waterlily series.   I decided to use a palette knife, not a brush with a heavy-bodied gel medium to paint this botanical subject as my focal point.

“Drift Rose Beauty”
acrylic paint & colored pencil
36″ x 36″ canvas
My Inspiration:
Georgia O’keefe is another favorite artist.  I love the simplicity of shapes and scale of her botanical pieces of art.   I grew these roses in my garden and decided to photograph and crop the photo to enlarge the image for this piece.

“Slice of Heaven”
acrylic paint
18″ x 24″ canvas
My Inspiration:
My husband and I took a needed vacation to the Ozark Mountains.  We visited this National Park and I remember being in awe of the beauty surrounding us as I sat on a rock in the riverbed.  I used artistic license to add the eagle, a request of my husband, as they are known to nest in this area.

“Seasons & Time”
mixed media beaded embroidery
My Inspiration:
I had asked a jeweler to save me any of her junk pieces.  One day I got a call to come by and pick up a bag that she collected.  3 years later I finally opened the bag and discovered the Rolex watch face.  I knew I needed to use this in some type of art.  Also, my neighbor several years earlier had given me her sun brooch.  So, I decided to try beaded embroidery to make a wearable art statement piece of jewelry.

“Turquoise”
wire wrapped stone & beading
My Inspiration:
I learned how to make Japanese braided beading called kumihimo.  I was given this piece of stone and was intrigued by wire wrapped pieces of jewelry.  I decided these techniques would work well together in this piece of jewelry.
